Ever since I took up knitting and crocheting again (the last time I had done them was middle school), I have obsessed with finding the perfect purse and bag to take around my crafts. First, I fell in love with a drawstring beach bag at the grocery store for $7, which I bought as soon as I had the money. I now tote it around on the weekends. But what about my purse? What about those weekdays, when I need to take something more professional-looking to the office? Right now I tote my Guess hobo purse to the office. It fits my knitting okay, but the yarn has gotten caught on the movable zipper piece more than once.

Enter Jordana Paige to the rescue. I looked up her site after seeing an ad in Vogue Knitting, and when I saw her knitting satchel, I was hooked. But the price was… a bit high. So I started to look for drawstring or clasp purses on ebay, because the yarn will not catch on zippers with these kinds of purses. I have looked around all the shops near where I work and live, including Macy’s, and of course, the bags I liked all cost $70 or more! I saw a denim/corduroy one in the clearance aisle that was in the style I liked, but it was still $45 after the discount! Sigh…

So I guess I will wait patiently as I search for the right purse that will not break my budget.  In the meantime, I see other women carrying purses I like, and I am so tempted to ask them where they got their purses…

My husband makes fun of me because even though I have always thought of myself as a frugal shopper, and I only buy one or two purses a year, even that is too much for him, it seems, and he makes fun of my “collection” of purses and bags. I don’t collect shoes like some women do, but I guess when it comes to purses, totes and bags… well, I am a little obsessed.
